Al-Anon's New Public Service Announcements

TV Stations now have Al-Anon's new public service announcements (PSA)- known as "Sketches lll"

The English and French TV public service announcements (PSAs) of "Sketches 111" is available in Broadcast quality from WSO for $30, plus shipping and handling. It is only necessary to purchase one PSA. TV stations usually agree to make a copy for their own use, so volunteers can keep the original and take it to the next station.

Delegates and Area Public Outreach Coordinators can download the " the for broadcast quality" from e-communities. These copies are only for showing within the fellowship. They are ideal to show to members who might want to volunteer to help with a local TV PSA campaign. Contact your Delegate or PO Coordinator if you wish a copy for your District.

Because the PSAs are not broadcast quality, so please don’t give them to TV stations or show them to the public. They are only for Al-Anon members, so they will know the kind of campaign they are volunteering to join.

Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie: When Love Is Not Enough -- The Lois Wilson Story

In keeping with Al-Anon’s Public Relations policies, the WSO cooperates with outside entities but does not endorse or affiliate with them. “Whenever national publicity on Al-Anon/Alateen may be of interest to local groups, they are, if possible, notified in advance by the WSO” (page 98, 2006-2009 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual). The following information is provided to make members aware of a forthcoming film that is in production. This film has the potential to increase the public’s understanding of alcoholism as a family illness and may encourage anyone bothered about someone else’s drinking to seek help in Al-Anon Family Groups.

For the past two years, the WSO has served as a resource to the Hallmark Hall of Fame for the development of a made-for-television movie about the life of Al-Anon’s co-founder, Lois W. Information from Al-Anon’s historical books, explanations of the Twelve Steps, the roles of Annie S. (Dr. Bob’s wife), and Anne B. (Al-Anon’s other co-founder), and interviews with members who knew Lois were also arranged for the screenplay writer. The WSO has also granted Hallmark Hall of Fame permission to use Al-Anon’s Twelve Steps.

The “When Love Is Not Enough” film is not a documentary about Al-Anon as an organization. Instead, it focuses upon Lois, her relationship with Bill, how his drinking affected her well-being, the development of the early Family Groups, and Lois’s application of the Twelve Steps to her own life. In a very real way, this biographical picture is could make Lois’ story a call to action to viewers who may be families of alcoholics in need of Al-Anon.

The WSO will provide information about the film’s airing when it is available. In the interim, please feel free to share this information the membership.

It may be important for anyone considering submitting a resume for Regional Trustee or Trustee at Large.

Reoccurring question:

Under “General Instructions” on the Trustee Résumé form, it states, “Résumé is due at the World Service Office (WSO) postmarked no later than August 15 for Trustee at Large and December 31 for Regional Trustee.” However, the WSO states that the deadline for Regional Trustee (RT) résumés is August 15.

When are the RT résumés due?

Answer: The RT résumés are due August 15. When the Conference votes to end the trial period and adopt the Regional Trustee Nominating Process, then the résumé form will be updated.

Meeting Locations now Linked to Google Maps

All meeting locations that have provided a numbered street address have now been linked to a Google Map.

A few numbered street address could not be linked to a map...please check your meeting location (here) to make sure the # and spelling are correct.
If your Group has not yet provided a numbered street address and would like to have your meeting location linked to a map, please send your information to our Area E-mail address: area_91@hotmail.com You must put area mail in the subject line.

All Calander Events that have a numbered street address are also now linked to a Google Map.

Remember the correct information that you provide..helps people find the meeting room door
